Naver Translate isn't working...

Hi there. I'm having trouble with the translator. I installed it as shown in your video, and then was able to read chaps 26 and 27 of Cheese in the trap just fine with it. Then it suddenly stopped working when I got to chap 28. I went back, and it wouldn't work for any of the other chapters (including ones I had already read using the translator) either. It only translates the story description at the top and the remote that pops up on the side of the screen; none of the story is translated.

I've tried a number of things to rectify this (deleted and then reinstalled the translator, tried using chrome instead of firefox, did a number of other recommended troubleshooting things) but I just can't seem to get it to translate for me anymore. Help? Thanks!

Hello Bxyn, could you tell me if nothing at all is working, or just the images?

Do you see a british flag near the top of the window, once you've used the bookmark?
Do you see stuff translated here and there, or nothing changes?

To create a bookmark on the ipad, I think you should do the following:

1°) make a bookmark out of this very page (this forum). This should be easy for you.
2°) go to our bookmark tutorial, and COPY the code in the box (the box below "Manual code to run in the address bar or to put in a bookmark.")
3°) edit the bookmark that you created at step 1°).  Give it a recognizable name (like, Naver Translator, or webcomic translator, whatevs), and paste the code in the address input.

1. Drag and drop this star onto your bookmark bar.
(if drag&drop not possible, copy the code in the white
box below then paste it in a bookmark)
2. Go to a naver webtoon that OSS has translated.
3. Click on the bookmark to load translation.
(if no bookmark bar, or if bookmarks open in new window,
type the bookmark name in the adress bar and run it)

Should i paste the code in the url bookmark ?

When you edit a bookmark, I believe there is only two things to edit: the name, and the address (alternatively referred as "url", yes).

Yes you should paste the code in the bookmark's url.

Also, since you have an ipad, could you tell me if the chapters are still cut in two or three pages?

Last year, I had to add some code for the ipads, because the chapters were cut, but I'm under the impression they are no longer cut ^^

Im using safari, it kinda worked, the website translated but the chapter disappears

What version of Safari are you using, and if you see the british flag (near the top of the window, once you cliked on the bookmark), could you click on it and copy paste here what it tells?

The script is doing its duty, apprently, so there might be 2 other origins:

1°) try http://comic.naver.com/webtoon/detail.nhn?titleId=186811&no=80 and tell me if the chapter disappears aswell.
2°) what is the version of Safari you are using.

Sorry to bother you, only the link you gave me worked, but when i changed the chapter it didnt work, it disappeared again, safari version wouldnt show up, only ios 7.1.1 software version

Season 2 works but season 1 the translations dont work

Thanks for the feedback, I think I know what it is (it is a limitation of the ipads and iphones). I'll see what I can do to circumvent this limitation (it should be possible).

Create a bookmark from any website (I think you have to click on a "star" icon), then edit it and paste the code in the bookmark's url ^^

I don't own an ipad, so I can't help much, I'd advise you to use google a bit =p should not be complicated

type "bookmarklet" and "chrome" and "ios" (or "ipad") in google, and there should be quickly guides for it.

For the anecdotal history, Naver launched its mobile-friendly website in 2012 I think, and only starting then they paid attention to the limitations of mobile browsing (iPad, iPhone, smartphones...). It would help me if you could say to me which chapters work and which do not on the mobile version =p. Try around chapter 37 of season 1 (this is where they launched the mobile version, and earlier chapters were redone). If the chapters work for you on the mobile version starting chapter 37 (or near), I can make the bookmark work for the first chapters on the mobile website very easily (that will be quick).

Its as you said, chapter 1 doesnt work, chapter 37 didnt work either but chapter 38 worked same as chapter 45

Okay, I'm going to release a bunch of files that work naturally with the mobile version for the 37 first chapters then, it should be ready wednesday. (today there's some side work, tomorrow we release a chapter, and wednesday I'll have time to make the mobile-friendly overlays ^^).

It will probably be announced Thursday (a little notice for ipad and smartphone users).

If that works with you (the mobile version of naver), then it'll allow me to push this problem lower in the list, and prioritize other things =p
